Shahid Captain Pawan Kumar Regional Research Centre, Badhana(Jind)

Shahid Captain Pawan Kumar Regional Research Centre, Badhana is located in village Badhana of Tehsil Alewa in District Jind and it is 23 km from district headquarter Jind. The foundation stone of this Research Centre was laid by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana on 19- 01-2018. The Centre is named after a young Army officer native of village Badhana Captain Pawan Kumar who laid down his life in the service of the nation at the age of 23 years.

Presently RRC have approximately 16 acres of area under possession. The Centre is equipped with two protected structures viz. High-Tech Green House (1728m2) and Shade net house (1008 m2) to raise the quality nursery of horticultural crops and to grow the various vegetables crops and to protect them from various pests and insects.

Achievements

• RRC Badhana is doing pioneering work in seed production of various crops viz. Coriander in spices and demonstration of Onion, Spinach, okra, Carrot, Radish etc.Vegetable crops has been carried out in the form of crop cafeteria.
• RRC have Guava orchard over an area of approx. 04 acre and is committed to bring more area under fruit crops suitable for the region such as Ber, Blackberry (Jamun) etc.
• Organized one day training on” Quality nursery production in Hi- Tech Poly house” “for the farmers to make them aware about Hi - Tech polyhouse and to encourage them to grow Horticultural crops.
• Soil texture is primarily sandy loam and loam and the Groundwater is moderately to high saline in the area, thus the center is dedicated to identify the suitable crops to tackle the challenges present in the area.
